The Sciangai folding coat stand by Italian furniture brand Zanotta, with it's strikingly recognisable silhouette, is a iconic design piece. Inspiration for Sciangai was the Chinese game where wooden sticks are held in the hand and then dropped onto a table. Amazing in its simplicity, it won the Compasso d’Oro Award in 1979. This coat stand can be easily closed up and open effortlessly into an elegant sculptural form. Each pole is delicately notched in the top to hang coats, hats, or other pieces of clothing. All the elements are connected right above the middle. This allows for a wide base that ensures stability.
